Watertable and Salinity Management to Reduce Saline Inflows to Rivers and Stressed Ecosystems

This study contributed to an understanding of the flow mechanisms in the Billabong Creek catchment and for minimising the transport of salt to streams in catchments where clearing of native vegetation commenced over 100 years ago. The water use and net drainage for three tree species was evaluated for various soil types in Billabong Creek using a forest growth model. Ecoseal developed optimisation models and undertook scenario analysis to identify optimal sites for locating interception bores and for targeted revegetation strategies in upland areas of the catchments.
